The development and extensive evaluation of expert system maintenance tools applied to Ion Chromatography

Summary: Ion Cromatography is extensively applied to assay ionic pollutants, pharmaceutical excipients, industrial effluent and many other analyses. This proposal seeks to extend previous usccessful ARC supported projects on expert systems for this domain and on the maintenance of expert systems whereby experts can build and maintain their own systems. The project will expand and strengthen a new paradigm in expert system research and will revolutionise the availability of expert systems in industrial applications. The substantial evaluation in the project, based on international collaboration, is rare and will greatly strengthen its impact.
