In situ measurements of the tropical atmosphere with Aerosonde

Funding: 1999: $20,756
2000: $20,756
2001: $20,756

Funding or Partner Organisation: Australian Research Council (ARC SPIRT (Strategic Partnerships with Industry Re)
Bureau of Meteorology (Bureau of Meteorology Partner Funds)

Start year: 1999

Summary: A series of Aerosonde flights, in which the student will have the opportunity to participate, will provide a data stream for both meteorological research and techniques development. The student will be trained in the analysis of data collected by Aerosonde and will develop and test techniques for the effective use of these data in both operational and research situations. The student will have the opportunity to make major research contributions to the field of tropical cyclone motion and development with these unique data and will be supported in developing an unrivaled expertise in operation and use of data from Aerosonde.
