Summary: The overall aim of this project is to provide information to enable significant expansion of the production and marketing of high quality Ceratopetalum gummiferum (NSW christmas bush) as a cut-flower crop on export and domestic markets, in a sustainable and profitable manner. Specific objectives are: to optimise flower production in the field with respect to plant nutrition, irrigation and other cultural conditions, to determine the effect of environmental variables on flower set and drop to develop control measures for pest and disease problems identified, and to optimise postharvest storage and handling, packaging and export technology and to extend vase life.
