Summary: Wireless delivery of broadband information services is becoming major focus of the telecommunication industry. High-speed wireless communications inside buildings using wireless LANs operating at around 5 GHz will form the basis of the next generation systems. In this project it is proposed to develop multipath mitigation techniques for indoor wireless transmission. The indoor channel at 5GHz will be completely characterized using modeling techniques and measurements in home and office environments. These models will be used to develop novel antenna techniques to combat multipath. Expected outcomes include smart antenna techniques, indoor vector channel models at 5 GHz, and methods for improving coverage.
