Summary: This project will develop new measuring techniques and complete models of 3D magnetic properties including vector hysteresis, eddy currents, and core losses of soft magnetic materials through theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experimental investigations. A novel 3D magnetic property testing system will be developed. This testing system will be of great interest to the scientific instrumentation industry. The experimental results will assist magnetic material manufacturers in quality control. The new material models will enable optimum design and thus shorten the development period of new high performance electrical machines, such as power transformers, turbo-generators and high efficiency permanent magnet motors.
