Summary: Many computer applications today are deployed in distributed environments and store data in multiple geographically distributed locations. Maintaining data consistency in such environments is an essential requirement as the loss of data consistency results in unreliable information. This problem is particularly difficult to address in situations characterized by wide distribution and intermittent network connectivity. The aim of this project is to develop a method for maintaining data consistency in such poorly connected environments. The outcomes of this project will contribute to the understanding of the management of data consistency in poorly connected distributed applications in general, with specific relevance to supply chain e-business applications.
