Summary: The development of electronic clearinghouses has long promised great cost savings and efficiencies for government and corporate procurement, but these exchanges have often failed, due to a lack of interoperability and common information framework. Government and corporate procurement of accommodation currently incurs large inefficiencies from unmatched need and under-utilized inventory. This project will develop novel ontology-based technologies and methodologies and an ontology-based clearinghouse architecture to overcome this obstacle to clearinghouses. A prototype clearinghouse, in the accommodation services domain, will be developed and tested against real-world commercial requirements identified by the industry partner.
