Mining Activity Transactions to Strengthen Debt Prevention

Funding: 2007: $152,000
2008: $173,000
2009: $144,000

Project Member(s): Zhang, C., Cao, L.

Funding or Partner Organisation: Australian Research Council (ARC Linkage Projects)
Centrelink

Start year: 2007

Summary: With Centrelink distributing 30% of all Commonwealth government expenditure, prevention of incorrect payment and debt is of national importance. Government customer debt-related activity transactions present special structural and semantic complexities, which challenge existing data mining approaches. The project aims to develop new frontier data mining techniques and algorithms for mining large volumes of activity transactional data. It also discovers interesting knowledge about the relationships between activities and the impacts of activities on debts. The outcomes will be an activity mining system prototype, which can benefit Australian Government departments and agencies through enhancing debt prevention and optimising processes.'',
