Summary: Undesirable discriminating behaviour, such as that of sophisticated market manipulators, hides in normal community activities, with potentially serious economic and social impact. There is a lack of effective analytical techniques to explicate interior causes and effects and identify patterns of such behaviour. We will develop new and workable theoretical underpinning and algorithms to model behaviour, to discover discriminating behaviour patterns hidden in communities. This will contribute to profound understanding and smart intervention in widespread problems such as market manipulation, online crime and terrorism, and national and social security, whilst advancing Australia s reputation as a world leader in this emerging research field.
