Summary: Sustainable water usage is becoming an increasingly important issue, both in Australia and internationally. This research will develop methods to ensure more cost effective recycled water schemes as well as identifying methods that could potentially save significant quantities of water. A key aspect of this is developing recycled water quality criteria and specific treatment requirements; this will also help alleviate public concerns about the use of recycled water. This will culminate in a novel concept of using recycled water for clothes washing machines, which will improve water sustainability and demonstrate the possibilities for recycled water usages.
