Summary: We will develop a process that will make coagulation in water treatment and sludge disposal more efficient. We will make major advances in understanding of titanium as a coagulant, instead of aluminium and iron. We will systematically investigate the theoretical principles and experimental solutions for titanium coagulation, to identify soluble hydrolysed titanium species and preparation of polytitanium chloride. As a result, we will establish the fundamentals of titanium coagulant science and effective water treatment using polytitanium chloride. This will open up new opportunities for water treatment innovation and advance Australia's capabilities in this field
