Summary: The project will cover ten fishing ports in NSW. The social part of the methodology will utilize data from a desk review, ethnography in six port areas, and a survey of professional fishermen. It will contribute to project objectives on history and operations, demography and analysis of social contributions. The economic part of the methodology will utilize cost and income data from the survey, regional catch and price data from co-ops and non-co-op sales, the Sydney Fish Market, NSW Department of Primary Industries, and other data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It will contribute to project objectives on demography and analysis of economic linkages and contributions.
