Summary: Part B comprises a scoping study for developing a Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) guidance system for rail passengers. RobotAssist from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology will lead the research. The study will: n Investigate potential benefits of an HMI guidance system for the Perth network. n Identify goals for the system that could include improving service reliability and potential service numbers by stabilising and reducing dwell times. n Engage with PTA decision-makers to secure the application space. n Scope ideas with Downer and PTA personnel for product features to augment rolling stock that would help achieve wider strategic network goals. This part of the program has an anticipated timeframe of 1-2 months.
