Peer Assessment Evaluation - Australian Council for the Arts
Funding or Partner Organisation: Creative Australia (formerly Australia Council for the Arts) (Australia Council of the Arts)
Start year: 2014
Summary: Each year, the Australia Council delivers more than $200 million in funding for arts organisations and individual artists across the country. Representatives, or peers, from the arts sector recommend how to allocate this funding. The overarching aims of this project were to better understand how peers make their assessment decisions on funding allocation, and to ensure that a new peer assessment system supports peers to make informed decisions. The project involved the development of an evaluation framework in collaboration with Australia Council, extensive stakeholder engagement with Australia Council staff, peers and artists through telephone interviews, focus groups and online surveys. It also involved observational analysis and an in-depth international literature and document review. The project is due for completion at the end of 2015.
