Transformation of forensic gunshot residue evidence

Project Member(s): Roux, C.

Funding or Partner Organisation: Acil Tasman Pty Ltd

Start year: 2014

Summary: The purpose of this project is to draw together several promising early stage streams of gunshot residue research. This will lead to a transformational improvement in forensic gunshot residue analysis capability. The planned research will assist law enforcement efforts to bring to justice those who have misused firearms and return to custody those caught using firearms in breach of conditions of parole or bail, thus protecting the community from individual offenders and, through an improved firearm conviction rate, deter future gun crime.
