Funding or Partner Organisation: Surf Life Saving NSW (Surf Life Saving NSW - Grant schemes)

Start year: 2015

Summary: Surf Life Saving New South Wales (SLSNSW) has called for tenders for a project to evaluate the Community Inclusion Project (CIP) for people with disability. The CIP has been funded by the NSW Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care (ADHC) as part of the National Disability Strategy NSW Plan. The overall objective of the National Disability Strategy NSW plan is to remove structural and attitudinal barriers to participation for people with disability in community life. The National Disability Strategy is guided by the principles of the UN Convention On the Rights of Persons with Disability [1] and more recently ADHC and the NSW Department of Family and Community Services have been placing the National Disability Strategy in context of liveable communities as outlined by the World Health Organisation [2]. The CIP will take place at three sites with one each at a metropolitan, regional and rural/remote area. The outcome of the projects is to improve visitation to beach precincts by people of all abilities for participation in recreational and social activities, including beach specific and community events. The timeframe for the CIP is from March 2015-December 2016. The requirements for the project as set out in the call for tenderers include (SLSNSW 2014, p2).
