Improving Privacy Policy Information for Consumers

Funding or Partner Organisation: Australian Communications Consumer Action Networ (Australian Communications Consumer Action Network Grants)

Start year: 2015

Summary: This project is the first stage of a proposed multi-stage project that examines the problem of attaining the informed consent of consumers for the privacy policies of consumer contracts ¿ an issue that impacts upon the fairness of contracts and the ability of consumers to protect their privacy. The project focuses on four communications industries in order to provide a broad picture of privacy and consumer fairness concerns. The project aims to deliver a number of draft recommendations for ways to improve the communication of important privacy information to consumers, for the consideration of the Australian Privacy Commissioner (APC), the ACCC, and industry and consumer groups.
