The use of forensic case data in an intelligence perspective
Project Member(s): Roux, C.
Start year: 2015
Summary: The fight against the illicit drug networks and organised crimes suffers from two major limitations, namely the current under-utilisation of forensic science that is primarily applied on a case-by-case basis as a reactive tool for court purposes and a sub-optimal use of available forensic information. This project will address these issues through the development of an optimised methodology that utilises illicit drug profiling for operational purposes and the development of a transversal application of this methodology for the use of different forensic case data. The aim is to transition from traditional reactive practices to the systematic integration of forensic case data to provide knowledge about criminal activities.
