Evaluation of trial job roles in TAFE NSW: Extension work

Funding or Partner Organisation: NSW TAFE (NSW TAFE Project)
Australian Education Union

Start year: 2015

Summary: In 2013, TAFE NSW and the Australian Education Union (AEU) agreed to introduce three new teaching-related roles (Education Support Officer, Assessor, and Band 3 Head Teacher) to help TAFE NSW respond to the more competitive funding environment introduced as part of the NSW Government¿s Smart and Skilled reforms, which commenced on 1 January 2014. The Workplace Research Centre was commissioned to conduct an evaluation of the trial and delivered its report on 30 June 2015. The report identified areas for further investigation. CMOS at UTS proposes to conduct an extension of the WRC evaluation activities, using the same methodology and research tools developed by the WRC. This will involve: 1. An additional case study of how the Assessor role is being used. 2. Collecting additional student, financial and workforce data . 3. Producing an updated Final Report
