Summary: In light of the Fit for the Future Local Government Reform package, Gwydir Shire Council is committed to engaging the community around the role and future of local government , financial sustainability, service levels, infrastructure provision, and meeting the changing needs of the community. Council engaged the Centre for Local Government to conduct a deliberative panel workshop with a representative group of randomly selected community members, and workshops with Council staff and elected members. The aim of these engagement and facilitation activities was to explore the future of Gwydir local area, service levels and reviewing levels of service, opportunities for shared services and strategic partnerships, asset and financial management, and decisions around budgeting and own source revenue.
