Summary: Inter-user Interference is becoming the dominant bottleneck in state-of-the-art wireless networks. This project will study a new distributed-input distributed-output (DIDO) framework, which makes best use of interference by exploiting recent advances in physical-layer coding technology. The aim is to develop new DIDO system design theories and efficient coding techniques to substantially improve the throughput, reliability, energy efficiency, robustness and flexibility of wireless networks. Targeted applications include mobile and Wi-Fi networks, satellite communications and wireless sensor networks. The outcomes will be fundamentally enhanced wireless infrastructure that can meet the ambitious demands for future wireless world.
