Summary: Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking funding to establish the Australia-Canada-India Chlamydia Research Alliance (ACICRA). The ACICRA will draw together leading research institutions and health service providers in Australia, Canada and India, to advance research into chlamydial disease prevention, treatment and management across five key research programs: • Control: Development of effective vaccines for humans and animals. • Treatment: Improved use of antibiotic therapy for Chlamydia. • Diagnosis: The development of new tests to diagnose chronic chlamydial disease. • Education: Development of improved sexual health education strategies. • Translation: Translating research findings into public health innovation. ACICRA will leverage strong links with health service providers, wildlife conservation agencies and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry to ensure that new knowledge is translated to economic, social and environmental benefits for Queensland.
