Oyster industry transformation : Building sustainability and profitability in the Australian Oyster Industry.

Project Member(s): Murray, S., Seymour, J.

Funding or Partner Organisation: Food Agility CRC Limited (Food Agility CRC)

Start year: 2017

Summary: The project has the aim to Develop harvest closure data models using real time salinity data that will result in at least a 30% reduction in harvest closure days. NSW Food Authority approves the use of salinity based models to be used to replace rainfall trigger thresholds within the oyster harvest management plans for each harvest area At least 50% of the NSW oyster industry see value in using salinity measuring technology to manage harvest management closures Improve detection and management of oyster disease and harmful algal bloom outbreaks.
