Feasibility Evaluation of Potential Technologies for Deepwater Ocean Outfalls (DOOFS)

Project Member(s): Kodagoda, S.

Funding or Partner Organisation: Sydney Water Corporation
Sydney Water Corporation

Start year: 2020

Summary: Sydney Water has a need to investigate the internal condition of the deep water outfall pipework which has been in active use for thirty years. The wastewater contains sediment and relatively high flow which precludes the use of optical systems for conducting this investigation. It has been postulated that a purpose built Sonar type sensor system with robust delivery and retrieval mechanism may be able to do the job. This project is the first stage (Feasibility analysis) of four stage project.
