Summary: Concerns have been raised about early-age restrained shrinkage cracking in concrete structures and the resulting risk of chloride induced reinforcement corrosion when the blended cements currently specified in AS5100.5-2017. for marine exposure classifications are used. Future concrete bridges in Australia are at risk with potentially extremely costly repairs. This project will provide scientific evidence of the effects of blended cements on the service life of concrete infrastructure.
