Summary: Livestock producers rely on their pastures as the feed source for their herd. Pastures are also dependent on water availability and temperature to provide the growing conditions for the pastures and the livestock. Unlike in a manufacturing or retail operation, it isn’t as simple to manage inputs to a livestock production. While water is generally contained within structures (dams, tanks, troughs), and temperature can be monitored and potentially managed, the amount of feed available through pastures is difficult to obtain.
