Unravelling Blowfly (Diptera: Calliphoridae) diversity in Australia: integrative systematics of the subfamily Calliphorinae

Project Member(s): Johnston, N.

Funding or Partner Organisation: Australian Biological Resources Study (Australian Biological Resources Study Project Gran)

Start year: 2022

Summary: This project will provide unprecedented insight into the Australian Blowfly fauna through the revision of the Subfamily Calliphorinae in Australia. This project will integrate molecular data with adult and larval morphology to describe new species (~40 descriptions) and redescribe all previously described taxa (42 species) within the Subfamily Calliphorinae. Once the species boundaries in this group have been established taxonomic revisions will be published, identification keys produced, specimens databased and all molecular sequences uploaded to GenBank for use by future researchers.
