Summary: In horticulture, uncertainty around yields and crop sizing has a significant impact on market price realisation. Yields and crop sizing are affected by weather, but in complex ways that are not well known. This project will create and deliver (to Zespri, the single desk responsible for marketing New Zealand kiwi fruit on a global basis), predictive models of fruit yield count and fruit sizing for kiwi fruit crops by combining: 1) gridded weather capabilities, crop models, and cloud computing and app solutions of The Yield; 2) crop data from the New Zealand kiwi fruit industry; 3) data science, climate and crop modelling expertise of UTS
