Summary: The aim of this project is to develop a test system for dynamic vibration analysis of omni-directional wheels. This includes the definition of the appropriate dynamic measurement metric, the development of a test process to ensure statistically viable and repeatable test results and the building and commissioning of the actual test equipment. Contemporary applications of omnidirectional wheels include novel conveyer systems as used in manufacturing and light-weight precision industry robot wheel systems. The project outcomes as anticipated will provide insights, to enable the future usage of advanced manufacturing technologies and sophisticated simulation tools to optimise ride quality using omnidirectional wheels.
