Summary: Prestressed concrete bridges (PCB) are commonly used in Australia and overseas. A PCB can suffer losses in their prestressing forces (PF) and a large reduction in the PF from the design value could lead to serviceability and safety problems. This project will develop a novel approach for assessment of prestressed concrete bridges without traffic disruption and with minimum resources by incorporating the innovative idea of corroborative substructural modelling and latest regularisation techniques. This should provide significant benefits such as developing techniques to analyse complex structures, identifying prestressing forces of PCBs, solving long standing problems of engineers and providing safer and more economical design and operation.
