Summary: Reliable metrics, obtrusiveness, high/intermittent data-rate, short battery-duration and the need for skin-contact in precise locations i.e. chest/fingers are the major barriers preventing widespread adoption of wearable monitoring devices particularly from older adults that would benefit the most. This project aims to break these barriers. Employing our patented contactless sensor technology for cardio-pulmonary, we plan to integrate the necessary electronics in a single smart microchip capable to extract continuously the required metrics such as respiratory-rate/effort, heart-rate and blood-pressure trend reducing device size (900 to 10 [mm2]) and data-rate (1 Mbps to 10 bps) will enable long-term (24-hours) monitoring i.e. weeks with a single charge.
