Start year: 2021

Summary: The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Royal Commission) is interested in understanding the key barriers for people with disability in navigating complaint mechanisms across a range of settings and contexts, and identifying ways to make these processes more accessible and inclusive. This research project will investigate current reporting, investigation, response and outcomes pathways to identify and analyse key areas of concern, and to establish best practice for more accessible and inclusive complaint mechanisms for people with disability. The Royal Commission is particularly interested in an examination of the failures in investigation and responses to complaints and what is needed to make these mechanisms more effective and appropriate.
