Blockchain based Workflow and Policy Management Platform

Project Member(s): Liu, R., Abolhasan, M., Zhu, T., Wang, X.

Funding or Partner Organisation: BT (BT Group plc)
BT (BT Group plc)

Start year: 2021

Summary: In this project, UTS and BT will expand the MVP to develop workflow and policy management and integrate distributed ledger technologies (DLT) with commercial platforms, such as ServiceNow and Pega. Workflows in commercial platforms would be synchronised with the DLT for a consistent view of service status across partners. We will investigate how policy can be programmed into smart contract to achieve automated workflow management, enforcement of policy decision, and actions. Smart contracts will be developed to represent policy models and aligned with TM Forum Policy Domain templates. The project team will investigate data privacy and sovereignty issues in blockchain. We will discuss data privacy and sovereignty requirements with BT stakeholders and legal professionals. We will develop design options for access control and data sovereignty protection. The project aims to design trusted and flexible data privacy and sovereignty protection mechanisms while achieving trusted data sharing through blockchain. The ground truth on DLT will be encrypted based on the security sovereignty models, e.g., channel and private data, in the Hyperledger Fabric. Role-based and Geolocation-based access control schemes will be developed, ensuring that DLT data can only be accessed in predefined context.
