Project Member(s): Ebrahimi Warkiani, M.

Funding or Partner Organisation: Cancer Institute NSW (Cancer Institute NSW - Career Development Fellowships)

Start year: 2022

Summary: The specific outcomes of the project will be: • An advanced 3D-lung-on-a-chip model incorporating bronchial organoids and flow of immune cells to physiologically recapitulate an in-vivo lung microenvironment. • A low-cost and reliable pre-clinical lung model that will enable clinicians and researchers to better understand the changes occurring in the lung microenvironment on exposure to NPs. • A paradigm shift in toxicity and drug screening. • Advancement of public health by enabling faster, low-cost testing of drug candidates for the ultimate safe and effective treatment of cancer, inflammatory, infectious, and autoimmune diseases.
