Summary: Our research identified thalamic 'biomarkers' of neuropathic pain and we were the first to deliver the thalamocortical model for the generation of neuropathic pain. Our model hypothesises that a decrease in the neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the thalamus results in disruption of normal thalamocortical rhythm.
