Project Member(s): Ries, N.
Funding or Partner Organisation: NPS MedicineWise
NPS MedicineWise
Start year: 2021
Summary: This project involves collaboration with Choosing Wisely Australia/NPS Medicine Wise in the implementation and evaluation of an online medical education course on legal issues when providing potentially unnecessary test, treatments and procedures. The content for the online course was developed and piloted in a previous grant, funded by the Avant Foundation (PRO18-5528). Choosing Wisely Australia is a national organisation with a mission to improve healthcare quality and safety. It partners with health professional colleges, societies and associations and, through its parent organisation, NPS Medicine Wise, delivers high-quality, accredited continuing professional education. CW/NPS are reputable and trusted organisations among Australian health professionals. By translating a UTS research output into a nationally available resource to improve professional practice, this collaboration is a high-value opportunity for engagement and impact with industry end-users. The project will also increase knowledge on the role of medico-legal training in promoting healthcare quality and safety.
