Start year: 2022

Summary: Information on nutrient inputs to Manly Dam reservoir is required to better understand risks from development in the catchment and changes that may be occurring over time. Excess nutrients can lead to eutrophication and algal blooms. This project would include nutrient measurement in the reservoir and also capture inflow events to the reservoir at the major creek inputs (Curl Curl Creek, smaller creeks near Wakehurst Golf course and others flowing into the dam). This would give a better understanding of where nutrients may be coming from (i.e. which creek sub-catchments) and how they change through time and after rain. This information would be compared to previous studies from the 90’s and 2000’s to see if there has been a change in nutrient levels in the reservoir and inflowing creeks. If certain creeks are found to generate more nutrients, follow up sampling may be undertaken to locate the source of the higher nutrient runoff.
