Summary: This innovative pilot study will advance the current knowledge of berberine through advanced drug delivery to treat IAV infection in both healthy and COPD populations. It will also assist us in identifying the optimal concentration of Berberine-loaded nanoparticles that could be translated to the animal models furthering our understanding of the therapeutic effectiveness of Berberine. The findings from this study would lay the foundation for further research into IAV-mediated inflammation in COPD and other related respiratory diseases. This will allow us to apply for external funding applications in 2022 with national competitive (NHMRC), philanthropic organisations and industry.
