Summary: This project will estimate and baseline carbon in soil and vegetation using an ensemble-model based approach (FLINTpro, RothC, FullCAM) that uses biomass and vegetation as a proxy for carbon. The model will be validated against soil samples. As the quality of the model improves it will minimise the need for high-cost soil samples, making carbon measurement affordable for rangelands operators. So Australia’s land stewards will be able to the greatest potential for carbon sequestration and access new revenue streams.
