Summary: The Transport Research Centre, within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is pleased to present the Stage 2a proposal of the Evaluation and Implementation of Shared Spaces in New South Wales (NSW) research program for Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW). Stage 2 continues the project delivered by UTS for TfNSW during 2021 and will focus on the understanding and identification of shared road infrastructure in NSW. Stage 2 as a whole directly addresses the 2nd objective of research program: “Conduct empirical analysis of existing shares spaces, shared zones and placemaking road infrastructure in New South Wales to measure the current operational performance and safety of shared initiatives.” Stage 2a distils and consolidate the findings from Stage 1 through additional guidance from transport practitioners, members of the community, and documents existing shared road infrastructure as potential example case studies for future designs.
