Summary: In this project UTS:RI aims to deliver a sensing and control solution to NextOre for a geometry sensing system to inform the robotic control and positioning of a large-scale MR sensor. The aims and deliverables are proposed in multiple research stages. After the successful completion of the first stage where a digital twin incorporating sensing optimisation algorithms was developed, this is the next stage of the R&D. Here the focus is on the actualisation, debugging and testing of these algorithms on the real-world hardware. Point cloud data from the provided laser sensors can be fused and processed to localise a truck load and create load profiles. The MR sensing optimisation algorithm outputs suggestions about sensing locations, then decisions and actions can be taken to move a crane-mounted MR sensor to the optimial location over a truck load. This will also involve advancing the software and control architecture and investigating the first stages of network and human interfaces.
