Advancing One Welfare to reframe coexistence and nature conservation

Project Member(s): Harvey, A., Ramp, D.

Start year: 2023

Summary: The aim of this CPRDF project is to develop, extend, and operationalise a novel One Welfare framework as an innovative way of creating paradigm change to solve complex conservations issues surrounding biodiversity, climate change and environmental sustainability. One Welfare is an emerging transdisciplinary concept that explicitly links environmental sustainability and human wellbeing to animal welfare1. To drive the social change necessary to incentivise coexistence and nature conservation, I propose to advance One Welfare by developing novel strategies for uplifting the vital components required to align animal welfare with environmental sustainability and human well-being.
