Start year: 2022

Summary: Electrically conductive liquids contain moving ions or atoms that are electrically charged. These should experience a Lorentz force when a strong static magnetic field is applied. The result in some cases is altered convection and an increase in viscosity. The present project will use neutron and X-ray techniques to probe atomic movements in these liquids in order to elucidate the associated phenomena.
