Summary: To develop a community-based strategy for surveillance and detection of Ciguatera Poisoning (CP) in Kiribati via: 1) A comprehensive scoping survey of CP cases in communities, and the causal agents in local marine fish stocks and marine environments; 2) Community and stakeholder (fisheries and health) engagement to investigate local knowledge and options for managing the risks through culturally-aligned fisheries management and health awareness interventions; 3) Training and resourcing national/sub-national stakeholders to develop and implement regulatory approaches to CP.
