Summary: This project aims to establish a new design technology to determine the optimal material properties and 3D printed auxetic structural capacity in real-time against impact loading. It will develop a rigorous numerical simulation, experiment and machine learning-based virtual modelling integrated framework to tackle the practical challenges in design and manufacturing of impact-proof materials and structures addressing the intrinsic uncertainties.
