Start year: 2023

Summary: This project aims to evaluate the accuracy and feasibility of using electromagnetic (EM) sensors in the navigation system during hip replacement surgery operations. The navigation system is for estimating the correct relative position between the femur and the pelvis during the process of the hip replacement surgery. The objective of this project is to clearly understand the achievable accuracy of the different EM sensors in the pose estimation in the hip replacement surgery settings, and the possible influence from using equipment with metals, especially medical instruments during the operations.
