Department of Home Affairs (Department of Homeaffairs)
Start year: 2023
Summary: This project will identify current/emerging issues impacting Australia’s democracy and democratic values, and assist the Strengthening Democracy Taskforce (Taskforce) with undertaking research, data collection and analysis regarding public history in Australia. It will identify, assess and synthesize archival material for discussion papers and/ or website material which will then be used to support expert, national roundtable discussions with key Australian historians, librarians, archive and museum officials alongside policy makers, on this topic. It is expected the analysis will summarise existing historical knowledge of Australia’s democracy and contribute to the identification of potential future actionable research needs and contribute to social research.
