Start year: 2023

Summary: MARVEL-PIC is a multi-trial, multi-centre trial that will implement and evaluate an evidence-based approach to pharmacogenomic (PGx) medicines optimisation in paediatric immunocompromised cohorts. Conducting three clinical trials and using implementation science methods we will assess acceptability, needs, cost effectiveness and scalability of PGx-guided medicines optimisation to enable safer and more effective use of medicines for paediatric patients. Two program streams of clinical trials, and effectiveness implementation analysis will simultaneously investigate multiple clinical and research questions whilst focused on confirming the barriers and enablers to implementation of PGx in paediatrics. To aid in long-term sustainability we will co-design with consumers and health care professionals implementation strategies to support the long-term uptake of PGx testing in this at need population.
