Summary: This project will establish an advance manufacturing facility for production of dowel laminated timber (DLT) panels for building construction. It will leverage our six years of state-of-the-art research on converting low grade wood and timber off cuts to structural grade DLT panels. The project’s five key activities include image-based pre-processing of timber feedstock, autonomous DLT panelisation, certification of DLT products and engineering methods, digitisation of design and costing, and training. These will lead to development of novel hardware, software, guides, and domestic capabilities for a unique DLT factory, amplifying sustainability in timber and building industry and promoting the project collaborators for national and global impact.
