MetaSteering Antenna Sensor Systems for Covert Intelligence Collection and Secure Communications

Start year: 2024

Summary: Capitalising on the resounding success of the 1st generation of a recent antenna beam steering method called MetaSteering in defence systems, this research aims to develop innovative antenna solutions to address some remaining challenges in covert intelligence collection and secure communications, using a radically new approach for the 2nd generation. This is significant because the new high-gain antenna systems are extremely energyefficient and even thinner than the 1st generation, enabling concealed installation even in height and powerconstrained platforms. The outcomes include prototypes of antenna systems and detailed theoretical and experimental results that will guide the National Intelligence Community to select the best antenna solution for each covert platform. Main benefit is asymmetrical advantage over adversaries when conducting covert operations on/in land, water, air or space. Both crewed and unmanned operations on mobile and stationary platforms will be benefited.
